New patients

First physio visit? Here's the drill.

The practical details, sorted before you arrive: what to wear, what to bring, and how claiming works across private health, DVA and workers' compensation.

The appointment

Forty minutes, well spent

Initial physio consults run about 40 minutes: history, physical assessment, diagnosis explained properly, and the start of treatment the same day in most cases. You'll leave with a plan, a timeframe and your first exercises.

What to wear matters more at the physio than anywhere else. We need to see the area and watch it move: shorts for hips, knees and ankles; a singlet or loose shirt for shoulders and spines. Coming straight from work? Fine. We keep spare shorts at both clinics.

Bring what you have

  • Scans, X-rays or specialist letters about the problem
  • Surgical protocol paperwork if you're post-op
  • Your private health card for on-the-spot HICAPS claims
  • GP referral forms for DVA or workers' comp claims
  • The shoes you actually run or work in, if it's a lower-limb problem
Costs & claiming

How the paying part works

Private health extras

If your extras policy covers physiotherapy, we swipe your fund card through HICAPS at the desk and you pay only the gap. Rebate sizes are set by your fund, so check your policy if the numbers matter to your decision.

Booking as a private patient

Nearly all of our patients book privately, and it's the simplest path by a distance: pick a time online, turn up, start treatment. No referral, no forms in advance, no approvals to wait on.

DVA and workers' compensation

DVA card holders are welcome under their usual arrangements. For work injuries, we treat once your claim has been accepted: bring the claim number and case manager details and we'll handle the treatment notes and insurer reporting from there.

Fees

Consultation fees are kept current on the main Absolute Health site rather than duplicated here; see absolutehealth.net.au. Booking needs no referral, no membership and no upfront program purchase.

Between visits

The part only you can do

Physio outcomes are built between appointments. The exercises we send home are small on purpose; doing three things consistently beats doing ten things twice. Tell us honestly what you did and didn't get done, and we'll adjust the program instead of judging you.

If something changes before your next visit, new pain, numbness, a fall, a scan result, call the clinic rather than waiting. Plans are cheap to change and expensive to follow blindly.

Sorted. Now book the assessment.

Both clinics take online bookings with live availability, or phone and reception will match you to the right physio for the problem.
